I'm posting this mostly because I did my first illustration that I think isn't hopelessly inadequate, but also to show off the kind of notes that I take, in case you ever have to teach me and think that because my pen is moving this means I am a diligent human being.

a) I can't sleep. This makes the seventh day in a week that this applies.

b) Sares, I promise, I started writing this way before I knew about the Doktor.

c) I actually have ideas for folktales much more often than I let on. (Because of all the embarrassing forms of writing, honestly, the one that is meant to be told to small children is probably top of the list... and I am Serious about telling stories to kids. I am a storyteller EXTRAORDINAIRE. This addition to the parentheses comes from five o'clock and I'm still not fucking asleep.) The one that's below the cut is one I've been toying with since this summer, off and on, and I think I finally like the middle bits, although I'm not wild about the conclusion. You guys! It's long not as long as I thought, but sort of repetitive. Watch out.

d) This is a tale from Ilsarya (see: previous entry about the Storycircle RP), but loses something in translation. random worldbuilding stuff. don't read this srsly )

*grins* Though there really aren't that many visible or around anymore, why the hell not?

Ask my characters anything/tell me something about my characters I don't know. Juilliard, Josh, Ada, Sophia; Myrissin, Radmyr, Lady Consort, Nashal. Am I forgetting anyone?

*sings along to Ruddigore* My eyes are fully open to my awful situation! I shall go at once to Roderick and make him an oration -- I shall tell him I've recovered my forgotten moral senses and I don't care tuppence ha'penny for any consequences... (I needs the ha'penny!)

musings on the past week or two )

For the Storycircle, Radmyr dies! For the Femgenficathon, Antigone and Iphigenia die (to be rewritten so it doesn't suck as much!)

For Harrowdown, not written by me in any way, just heavily fangirled: Paul not-slash Ian, That Caleb In Drag Drabble. Therefore two-thirds of my soul goes to Heidi and the other third to Sares.

Radmyr on family values.

When he returns the castle is sparkling. )

How Radmyr Lives His Life, or: Why This Man Has Problems.
  1. Do everything in your power to protect the land.
  2. Do everything in your power to protect the land.
  3. Execute justice.
  4. Never betray your blood.
  5. Do what you must to survive.
  6. Be gracious and hospitable. Guest-right is a law.
  7. Honour above friendship.
  8. Calm breeds prosperity.
  9. Trust no one.

He tries so hard to be a Good Man and he totally doesn't notice the bit where he's torturing people to death, because that falls under rules 1, 2, and 3. Poor guy. I would hug him, but he is a bit too dignified and might eat my hand.

Hello! I ... am tired but want distracting while I try to write a paper. *ponders* Anyone up for an interview/questions même? (I ask you five to ten questions, you respond in your LJ and ask me five to ten questions which I also have to answer. It is Fun, when you are an exhibitionist, and come on, man, we're all on LJ.)

Storyboard folken: any good threads the Lady or Radmyr could get in on? (I want to hit Myrissin with a brick right now. She never ever had a groove.)

Do not comment. Unless you're Anna.

The door opens. The door closes.

After a time, Radmyr's standing in front of him, eyes dark and pained.

He's holding a very sharp knife. "Take it," he says, roughly.

Roderick lifts his head, with considerable effort. The seemingly random syllables eventually arrange themselves into comprehensible words. The face appears to be familiar, although he cannot quite place it at first...

"Take it," repeats Radmyr, with more urgency.

I have a very clear image of Lord Radmyr in my head, now.

He's wearing a cloak that touches his feet, and it's very simple; it provides warmth, not flair. It's dark brown. His hair is black but streaked with gray. I can't see his face.

It's a cinematic moment, starting with a rear view. He's standing on the edge of a hill, and looking over his holdings. They look very peaceful--a medieval village. Smoke is coming from the chimneys, and there's a lot of fruit in the orchards and crops in the fields.

My mental camera slowly pans around, and his head is framed in the right half of the "screen." His face is lined, and kind of craggy; he doesn't look old, but he looks experienced. He's mostly expressionless, but his head is very slightly bowed, and his eyes are heavy.

The castle behind him is slightly out of focus. His wife is at an upper window. She has very long brown hair, that for propriety's sake she keeps up, but it's trailing a little.

He's going to die a week after he has this moment.

He knows that.

She knows that.

... I want to write more Radmyr now.

I have an insane firewitch panicking in my head, say I.

I want her to stop insisting that Captain Mesmer is a danger to society and go to bed, or at least get over the panicky stage of this and into the far creepier really quiet stage, because at least then she'd let me sleep, dammit.

Maybe I can get Radmyr to knock her out bad thoughts bad thoughts

The infinite saga of June 15th, 2005
Or, the Adventures of Anna and Emma in the Big City

1. People's Café - talking about our usual range of "let's get thrown out" topics (i.e. torture, revolutions, sex, lack of volume control, etc.)

2. Shopping at GAP; typical teenage solution to all problems

3. Wait for the bus that always comes; it does not come.  Excitement and anticipation regarding ninja stores

4. BIG HONKIN' ABANDONED CASTLE, 1800 Mission, Studio 2000 USA, Inc.  For sale?

5. NINJA STORE; rubber throwing stars since metal ones are illegal, handling swords, sharp and shiny and over-expensive objects, Bruce Springsteen, Brendan Lai the Praying Mantis, Bruce Lee out of origami

6. Good Vibrations: pornigami, the polite handbook to SM and managing a dungeon, edible panties, strange rubber entities, suggestively shaped pasta

7. Community Thrift Store: books, Buffy, knitting, small daggers, naval swords with Masonic symbols from the Korean War, good causes

8. El Buen Sabor: "no, this is ONE taco", annoying English-speaking people, good food, diet toxic wastes

9. PIRATE STORE:
- Please do not judge the fish.
- Q & A regarding the Glass Eyeballs
Q: Can they see me?
A: Probably.
- Please bring your own tubs for lard

10. Animal heads and penis bones!

(11. Anna returns home, leaving Emma to muse, and post multiple LJ entries about OMGCASTLE)

OK, this one I can promise very few of you will get. You can read it, it's nicely slashy and conniving and so on, but really it will be funniest if you are Anna, Shira, Caitlin, or me! Yay. It's also very, very long.

So, y'all know about the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie that is coming out on May 6th, right?

And y'all are desperately excited for it, right?

And y'all have that date marked with a heart on your calendar and as the background for your computer, right? (No? Just me?)

Well, um, guess what.

May 6th? Is for losers.

I AM GOING TO SEE IT ON APRIL 28th WITH ANNA. MY LIFE HAS MEANING AND ALSO JOY. *dances in circles screaming*

For the actually quite significant portion of friendslist that knows us in RL, I want you to go up to Anna and give her chocolate. I would say sexual favors, but, you know, it's Anna. So, chocolate! And literature. AND ETERNAL LOVE. <3 <3 <3

(I promise, Anna, Roderick/Damien tonight. I will beat the bunnies until they listen to me! Or something.)

ETA: Well, gloating apparently will get you absolutely nowhere. It REALLY comes out on April 29th, apparently. Ack. Still. Hysterical joy nonetheless.

I think I like this method of communication: miscellaneous posts about my day and life any day that I'm unlikely to complete a challenge fic. This is definitely one of those days. I can't focus on the Roderick/Damien slashy goodness, as I am firmly convinced, now, of the godly righteousness of Roderick/Blade. Figures. I'll find a bunny if I hang around Crowe and Anna enough, I suspect.

Um...links! I will come bear you links.

Today, Caligula arrived in Rome. Did YOU know that? RogueClassicism blog. Intriguing.

No words for how awesome this manga is. It's about this brilliant high school senior, Yamagi Light, who finds a notebook from a god of death on the groud, and begins using it to kill anyone whose name he writes down. It's completely plot-driven and intriguing, in all senses of the word intrigue, including the slashy one. (If there is a slashy definition of the word intrigue.) The link takes you to the main page, from whence you can access scanlations (i. e. download the translated manga.)

Three really pretty, rather random pictures. Recently posted by [livejournal.com profile] smuu, inventor and brilliant mind behind Demonology 101, which I've recced here before.

Giants rawk, baby. First and only time I will use the word rawk. Is that even slang? I don't know. I feel very strongly about my baseball team, and clearly this blogger shares my deep and abiding emotions. ^_^ Much love.

This morning a plot idea attacked me, and I can't use it. So it's all yours if you want it, because I like it, but it's nothing to do with our plot currently or ever. Let me explain:

No, there is too much, let me sum up. )

Hmm. I rather did steal this partially from [livejournal.com profile] amberdulen. (The memory altering, at least.)

It's so annoying that I can't use this. Anyone want it?

We're reading MAUS in English--for me, it's the fifth time or something--and I was suddenly inspired to write a graphic novel.

Duuuuuuuuuuuude. I've finished the first page, and it's actually...pretty awesome. I'm very proud of it--good dialogue, readable handwriting; my mom thought the main characters, husband and wife, were mother and daughter, but not throughout the page, and the opening "montage" is really, really pretty.

This, though, brings up my catalogue of unfinished...things to a lot:
1) THE NOVEL.
2) The NaNo Fun Novel. Of joy.
3) The short story about wormholes and fundamentalists and Asimovean scifi.
4) The short story about the skatepark and the kid's story.
5) The song that's bouncing around my head, which lyrics include "tell me who you want me to be, and I'll be it--but don't ask me to be me," only with rhyme and meter.
6) The illustration for [livejournal.com profile] mumuchan's parody story.
7) The (unstarted) fanfic for A Heart Apart, [livejournal.com profile] erythros's baby.
8) The vocab list for my pet language, Kilis-Ai.
9)...And the roleplay, which has had its first major subplot all climaxed and gone, and needs an infusion of plot, fast.

I'm sure there's more I can't think of. But this makes me inexpressibly happy and feeling creative.

Nine, baby. NINE CREATIVE THINGIES. How can that NOT be cool?

Stroke 9. (THANK YOU CAITLIN SO MUCH I LOVE YOU MWAH.)

It's a band, yes, a California semi-pop mostly-rock band, and it's witty lyrics with niiiice guitars, and I love it so much, and [livejournal.com profile] erythros you will undoubtedly love it too, so buy buy buy. The album you want is "Nasty Little Thoughts."

In other news: It's 10:36 and I'm not even PJed yet, but I'm halfway through an awesome RP and I don't want to stop *whiiiine*

Wow, my posts have lost all semblance of substance they once had, haven't they?
