BEHOLD )

Things I like best about this sketch of Anna Eichel that I purchased from the inimitable thundercake at deviantart:

1) She produced this out of sheer alchemy and magic. I mean, seriously, this is the ref I sent her. I don't know how she figured out from my garbled description and badly-photographed sketch the exact Eichel face of baffled distaste, how she figured out exactly what eyebrow position she has inherited from her father and exactly what fashion sense she's inherited from the alternate spy version of her mother, but I love it.
2) There is so much blood. It is like a patient just exploded in front of her, and now she is inconvenienced because this is before dry-cleaning was invented and those gloves do not grow on trees, okay! Meanwhile, the patient: like that inside-out pig from Galaxy Quest. If only anyone knew who this was, I would need fic for this.
3) The little belt. The apron. The sensible gloves.
4) It was ten bucks. That is as much as I paid in Starbucks this morning.
5) It is amazing.

Seriously: thundercake is holding a sale, and she's doing $5 busts too. It's epic. You should go buy things from her if you haven't tied up your disposable income in [livejournal.com profile] con_or_bust. Now I have to stop typing, before I buy a Peter Eichel to go with it, or an Angela Rogers to pin up on my bedroom wall.
nextian: Quote from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang; "I don't see another goddamn narrator." (another goddamn narrator?)
oh my god i swear to god my attention span has finally died. like. kaput! that's it. gone. away down the drain with my grades and my enthusiasm for the sciences and my identity as a renaissance woman. that last is a lie, i don't paint.

have some six month old drabbles: the kiss-fic challenge, finally completed. i am sorry that i am spamming the shit out of you people, but it is how i am staying awake, let alone, er, functioning. 'functioning' is like a funny dream at this point. sorted by canon, roughly.

The current thing-I'm-writing-that-four-people-ever-will-understand is driving me up the wall. It seems like the more obscure the thing I'm writing is, the more I care about how it works, although this might be because when I write for reaaaaally tiny audiences it's always a really tiny audience of people who I really like and respect, so. But -- you know -- it's already got theoretical sections with German subtitles and varying text alignments and very few periods and many, many run-on sentences, and three POVs in less than a thousand words, and I keep thinking of more weird shit I want to do to it. Like: add another POV. Or font colors. Or a soundtrack.

[livejournal.com profile] pushingmetaphor and [livejournal.com profile] ariastar, you've already read this.

I am so sorry, Mr Doc Holliday, sir.

[livejournal.com profile] schiarire asked for let me through, paper and fist, which is funny because for a fic I didn't initially want anyone to read I think it's some of my better writing.

I started rewriting the intro story for Roger (please be kind, that link is from freshman year, I think) and found that it ... um ... let's just say the similarity in names was confusing to me.

This is, as usual, for [livejournal.com profile] pushingmetaphor.

I would do that "where characters come from" même, but I'm sure everybody's seen Juilliard in half a dozen movies before, Ji has shamed me with her literary references (oh god felix comes from pulp fiction and stereotypes ji screw you), and nobody really cares. So I will just say that I think Josh came from the fluffy pink lagoon and leave it at that.

Today I discovered that one can watch three separate episodes of Coupling and not get bored. )

Also, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] newredshoes, there's this other meme where you can turn your subject lines into cat macros. The beauty of this is that all my subject lines are song lyrics and quotes. I present to you the best three cat macros, ever:

And the last. This one is totally just for Sares. ~200 words.

one place joshua calhoun never visited.

"I don't even know how it happened. Look, one of the planes got delayed, and Gordon decided, touch down in Amsterdam, it's sociable there, since Germany is just too much like home. And somehow, and somehow, okay, I got a little -- lost in the airport.

"...So maybe I -- wandered away. The colors were real bright, all right?

"--Of the people! I ain't five years old, Hayes!

"Anyway, yeah. So I find this restaurant and there's a tasty picture on the menu, looks droolable, so I order it and it turns out to be chocolate. I mean, chocolate is good, right? Can't go wrong with chocolate?

"You can go horrible wrong with chocolate.

"Surfaced the next day head spinnin'. Gordon found me real ... out of it in a park. Said later that after I'd finished the brownie I'd felt hungrier and I went for a mushroom salad..."

Harrowdown fic. 665 words, which makes me think the wordcount on the last one got fucked up, because Felix is definitely wordier than expected.

*grins* Though there really aren't that many visible or around anymore, why the hell not?

Ask my characters anything/tell me something about my characters I don't know. Juilliard, Josh, Ada, Sophia; Myrissin, Radmyr, Lady Consort, Nashal. Am I forgetting anyone?
nextian: From below, a woman and a flock of birds. (Default)
*sings along to Ruddigore* My eyes are fully open to my awful situation! I shall go at once to Roderick and make him an oration -- I shall tell him I've recovered my forgotten moral senses and I don't care tuppence ha'penny for any consequences... (I needs the ha'penny!)

musings on the past week or two )

For the Storycircle, Radmyr dies! For the Femgenficathon, Antigone and Iphigenia die (to be rewritten so it doesn't suck as much!)

For Harrowdown, not written by me in any way, just heavily fangirled: Paul not-slash Ian, That Caleb In Drag Drabble. Therefore two-thirds of my soul goes to Heidi and the other third to Sares.

We're moving at five. I'm going on a bike ride now.

Harrowdown Hill: up and running. My dear lord, I am terrified. How very exciting. *grins rather hysterically* Er, to do list, to do list, oh right, the first log and the apps and talking to people about it and making a profile for Ada and secret-character-#1 and redoing secret-character-#2 and enjoying being a sphinx without a secret in general. [livejournal.com profile] pushingmetaphor, you own my soul so much right now.

[livejournal.com profile] sandanzuki, [livejournal.com profile] ariastar, [livejournal.com profile] polaris_starz, [livejournal.com profile] metaphor, [livejournal.com profile] evil_overlords ahahaha oh god, possibly [livejournal.com profile] parcae and [livejournal.com profile] kentraine and [livejournal.com profile] demonic9yearold and [livejournal.com profile] winterwolfsong at some point.

[/oblique crazy]

Um, yes. I forget why I was actually posting! Which is a theme for me lately. Possibly the above. Er.

*does a little dance, sidles off into the niiiiight*

Also, fun new default icon. Because the citygirl was boring and the Always One Step Closer not well enough made. Bets on how long this one will last?
